Market-Drop-Point Gratitude

October 10, 2019

Helios Farms is breaking new ground with the help of our energized farm-share-owner community. As a community, we have hundreds of feet on the ground daily driving the revolution. First, let's take a closer look at Helios Farms' dictionary...

=====

revolution[ rev-uh-loo-shuhn ]
1. a sudden, complete or marked change in something: "the present revolution in Oregon's food system driven by Helios Farms farm share owners."
2. a procedure or course, as if in a circuit, back to a starting point (like returning the food system to real, local food).

======

Back to the Future: Food as God Intended

Helios Farms is your farm. By representing your farm at our market-based drop points, you are driving the food system revolution, making it easier for EVERYONE to access food as God intended. Every time you pick up and support the gifts of our presence in these markets, the revolution gets stronger. Make sure to acknowledge the drop points in every way you can. Thank you!

Buying goods at these markets is a great way to reciprocate the service they are providing to your farm and family, and making the pick-up transaction as quick and easy as possible for the staff at the market is one goal. If you see ways that we can improve the pick up process at one of these markets, please let Theo or Kira know through text, email, or a phone call.

Eugene: A New Frontier

Our Eugene drop point is New Frontier Market. It is the oldest market in Oregon, going back to the Oregon Trail times. Raw milk was available at this market for many many years, more than a century. Now, it is available once again, because New Frontier Market is our drop point. PLEASE keep in mind, whenever you pick up, that it is a HUGE honor for this market to make space to temporarily hold your goods from your farm shares so you can pick them up at your convenience.

Make sure to thank them profusely for providing your family with this service when you are in there.
-Grab your milk, cream, eggs, from the dairy cooler.

-Shop for other great food.

-Check out and tell the check-out person you are picking up your Helios Farms goods, so they can check your name off of our delivery checklist.

New Frontier Market offers great produce and great prices for such a cool little neighborhood market. One motivation for them to host our farm's drop point is that you can shop and have the opportunity to buy all the great stuff they are offering. You are their audience with the same values. They know that Helios Farms' farm share owners are aware of the value and healing possible through non-gmo and organic foods, and they have a great selection.

Springfield: Down on Main St.

Our Springfield drop point is Main Street Market. It is the NEWEST market in the Springfield/Eugene area, going back only months. PLEASE keep in mind, whenever you pick up, that it is a HUGE honor for be in such a high-quality market. They have reserved space in their dairy cooler to hold your goods from your farm shares so you can pick them up there at your convenience.

Make sure to thank them profusely for providing your family with this service when you are in there.

Main St. Market has a focus on local food offerings, and it just feels great to go there. Cottage Grove: Coast Fork Farm Stand...Wow!

To have a neighborhood market with the feeling of a farmers' market every day in Cottage Grove is a blessing. Coast Fork Farm Stand is the market to support...their prices are great, their food buying club has great local food offerings, and you can pick up your milk, eggs, cream, and other goods from there.

It is a HUGE honor for be in such a unique market. They have reserved space in the back to hold your goods from your farm shares so you can pick them up there at your convenience.

Make sure to thank them profusely for providing your family with this service when you are in there.
-Pick up your milk, cream, eggs, from the dairy cooler. Check your name off on the checklist that is on the fridge.

Coast Fork Farm Stand is famous in the area for its local food offerings. They support many local farmers in so many ways. You can reciprocate for their service to Helios Farms' farm share owners by bringing your shopping bag and stocking up on what you'll need for the next few days. Whenever we drop off, we often pick up food for the farm workers there, and it makes us all feel good and feel like we're getting a over-the-top great deal on the amazing produce and bulk goods that they offer.

Drain: The Creator's

Some folks are calling us "vintage farmers" and that is an appropriate description. Drain Oregon is one of our nearby "vintage towns" and the best "vintage store" in town is The Creator's. If you visit Drain, you have to stop in to this store, buy an old fashioned soda at the soda bar, get some wonderful creative vintage artwork for your home, and pick up your "vintage" Helios Farms' goods, like your fresh raw milk, cream, and soy-free eggs. The Creator's hours varies with the seasons, so check the hours to make sure they're open before you head down there.

Corvallis: Jim's Fruit Stand

Helios Farms's Corvallis drop point is a Corvallis/Albany landmark. Jim's Fruit Stand doesn't go all the way back to the Oregon Trail Days, but it has been around as long as we can remember, and that's a long time.

The location is convenient for any Corvallis person who drives regularly on Hwy 34, which is just about everyone in Corvallis and Albany. Jim has great fruit and produce with more and more local and organic offerings all the time.

When you pick up at Jim's:

Make sure to thank them for providing your family with this service when you pick up. You can usually find Jim there so you can thank him personally.

-Pick up your milk, cream, eggs, from the Helios Farms' refrigerator. Check your name off on the checklist that is on the fridge so we know that you picked up.

-Shop for other great produce and food there. Jim's always has very fresh offerings, specials, and great prices.

Aurora: White Rabbit Bakery, Yum!

We are excited to have a new drop point at White Rabbit Bakery in Aurora, Oregon. Our Single-Moo Milk ™ just goes so well with baked goods (Theo knows this from experience, lots of experience), so having a high-quality bakery step up to host our drop point in Aurora is sweet. Can't you just smell the cinnamon rolls baking?

White Rabbit Bakery is the newest addition to our drop point offerings, so if you have friends or family in the area around Aurora, Oregon, make sure to let them know that our milk is now available locally for them. Make sure to thank the bakery for providing your family with this service when you are in there.

-Pick up your milk, cream, eggs, from the fridge.

-Pick up some baked good there. They have wonderful offerings for events and special dinners.

SE PDX: Know Thy Food Coop

Know Thy Food Coop in SE Portland was our first drop point in Portland. When you come to our farm to visit your animals and join us for a farm dinner, ask us the story about how Know Thy Food became our drop point. It a story that tells you a lot about our mission, "the plan," and the revolution that you are part of.

When you pick up at Know Thy Food:

Make sure to thank them profusely for providing your family with this service when you are in there.

-Go to the counter.

-Give them your name (the one you use as our farm share owner).

-We have a rack in their walk in cooler and your goods are placed in your bin when we deliver.

Know Thy Food has a food buying club. We time the delivery so you can pick up foods from your buying club orders and our milk, cream, eggs, meats, at the same time. They have some great local treat offerings, great produce, and make great sandwiches and coffee and other things in their cafe. They also have entertainment, so it's a great place to just hang out. Bring the kids!

Many Drop Points from Roseburg to Portland

Helios Farms has many drop points from Roseburg to Portland. We have many residential drop points that aren't listed in this blog entry.

We are establishing market-based drop points to serve our farm share owners more conveniently. If you have a suggestion for a market or farm stand or coop or bakery or other shop that you think would be a great drop point for the farm, please let us know. You are driving this community and this food-system revolution. You are our feet on the ground and together we will make it happen. Blessings!
